Horn & Hardart opened an Automat at Macy's Herald Square on August 11, 1925. It was in the "basement" and had two entrances. One on 34th St and the main entrance on 7th Ave. Both entrances are visible in this photo of the building.Â

By the time this photo was taken in 1955, the Automat entrance on 7th Ave looked very different. Most notably was a more modern overhang which remains there to this day.
